Job Overview
We are seeking an analytically rigorous and highly knowledgeable Lecturer in Taxation to join our faculty. As the global fiscal landscape becomes increasingly complex—driven by cross-border digital transactions, evolving international tax treaties, and the integration of data analytics into revenue administration—our department is dedicated to preparing the next generation of tax experts, policy advisors, and fiscal managers. You will bridge the gap between complex tax theory, legislative practice, and the evolving digital economy.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Lead comprehensive courses in Corporate Taxation, International Taxation, Personal Income Tax, Fiscal Policy, Tax Law, and Data Analytics in Taxation.
Curriculum Innovation: Develop a curriculum that addresses contemporary challenges, including Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS), the taxation of digital services, ESG-linked tax incentives, and the implementation of AI-driven compliance systems.
Applied Case Workshops: Facilitate practical workshops where students analyze complex real-world case studies (e.g., cross-border M&A tax implications, tax dispute resolution, or government fiscal forecasting).
Research & Scholarship: Engage in impactful research on tax policy reform, the impact of tax on economic behavior, fiscal equity, or the intersection of tax technology (TaxTech) and administration.
Professional Mentorship: Mentor students pursuing careers in professional accounting, law, tax consultancy, or government fiscal policy, helping them navigate professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CTA).
Capstone Oversight: Guide capstone projects that require students to build robust tax planning models or critique current fiscal policies, emphasizing the ethical and legal dimensions of taxation.
Industry Engagement: Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, large accounting firms, and government revenue agencies to ensure the department remains connected to current legislative shifts and professional standards.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Law, or Public Finance (a PhD is strongly preferred). Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are highly valued.
Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in tax consultancy, corporate tax management, or government fiscal policy, combined with prior teaching or professional training experience.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of national and international tax law/frameworks.
Proficiency in tax-modeling software and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel for financial modeling, tax calculation platforms, or statistical packages).
Familiarity with digital tax administration and the impact of technology on tax compliance.
Soft Skills:
Analytical Rigor: Ability to dissect complex legislation and apply it precisely to multifaceted business or policy scenarios.
